I cannot recommend Lucy highly enough. Our son has always been a capable student, but English had become a real challenge for him over the last few years. Despite working with two previous tutors, his grades remained well below what we knew he was capable of, and we simply were not seeing the progress we had hoped for. We found Lucy through Tutorful in January, and the difference she made was quite remarkable. Within a matter of months, Lucy completely transformed our son’s approach to both English Language and English Literature — and he went on to achieve straight grade 9s in both subjects at GCSE. I genuinely have not a shadow of doubt that these results would not have been possible without Lucy’s intervention. What makes Lucy exceptional is her ability to understand the individual student in front of her. She quickly worked out how our son learns and tailored her teaching accordingly, rather than simply following a generic tutoring formula. She was able to identify exactly where he was losing marks, sharpen his exam technique, improve the quality and structure of his responses, and, importantly, help him realise what he was actually capable of. At the same time, she was always incredibly kind, patient and considerate. Lucy is exceptionally switched-on and purposeful in her teaching — not a minute of a lesson is wasted. Every session had direction, and the progress over the months was significant and clearly measurable. We are not a family who normally writes reviews, but this is one that I felt absolutely had to be written. When someone has made such a profound difference to a young person’s academic achievement, people deserve to know about it. Lucy is an outstanding English tutor and an exceptional teacher. If you are fortunate enough to find availability with her, I would recommend her without hesitation. Thank you, Lucy — our son’s results are a testament to the extraordinary impact you had on him.
